Earlier this week, we shared a comprehensive recap of the Veterinary Pillar's accomplishments in 2023. Today, let's take a closer look at the impactful moments that defined our commitment to mitigating human-wildlife conflict in Mozambique.

Safe space development in high density HWC areas:
Implementation of 6 community/cooperative farms developed with electric fences (114 hectares) in 5 districts, benefiting 176 households, in HWC hotspot areas. Including extra layers of one health and education support.
Training Initiatives:
In addition to our conflict resolution efforts, we conducted 13 training sessions across various national parks and communities. These sessions focused on essential techniques such as creating peri peri blocks and other innovative methods to safely deter elephants other wildlife, as well as the legal frame around HWC in Mozambique, contributing to a more informed and empowered local community.
Addressing Diverse Conflicts:
Our dedicated team responded to a diverse range of conflicts, from encounters with elephants in agricultural areas to clashes with predators near communities. In 2023, we successfully mediated 111 conflicts, ensuring the safety of both humans and wildlife.

None of these achievements would have been possible without our incredible partners, particularly the local communities, who play a vital role in reporting and resolving conflicts.
