Lion Monitoring in the Mussoma-Lissongole Corridor

An adult female lion was successfully darted in the Mussoma-Lissongole corridor for the deployment of a satellite collar.

The collar will allow her movements to be monitored over time, generating valuable data on how she moves through and uses this corridor.

For large carnivores like lions, understanding movement across landscapes is an important part of long-term conservation. Satellite monitoring provides teams with the information needed to better understand movement patterns and support informed conservation and management decisions.

The operation was carried out by Mozambique Wildlife Alliance (MWA) in partnership with the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC), the Lion Recovery Fund (LRF), and the Niassa Carnivore Project (NCP).
