Field Operations Across Coutada 11

Over the course of a single seven-day operation in Coutada 11, Mozambique Wildlife Alliance (MWA)'s veterinary team carried out a series of wildlife interventions supporting both conservation management and long-term species monitoring.

The mission included:

• 2 elephant herds fitted with satellite collars, with biological samples collected during the procedures.

• 5 lions immobilised, including: 4 satellite collar replacements and 1 collar removal. Biological samples were also collected from each lion to support ongoing health monitoring and research.

  
  

• 1 cheetah successfully fitted with a satellite collar, contributing to the continued monitoring of one of Africa's most threatened predators.

Operations of this scale require careful planning, precision, and close coordination between veterinary, ecological, and field teams. The information collected during these interventions will support wildlife management, ecological research, and conservation decision-making across the landscape.
