Safeguarding Communities and Wildlife Through Vaccination Campaigns

As we approach World Rabies Day, we take a moment to celebrate the vital work we've done this year through our rabies vaccination campaigns. These campaigns are more than just health measures for pets—they are a crucial part of the One Health approach 🌍, which recognizes the deep connections between human, animal, and environmental health.

💉By vaccinating pets, we help prevent the spread of diseases like rabies, safeguarding both human communities and wildlife.

Since the start of the year, we've successfully completed three campaigns, with two more scheduled by year's end. Here’s what we’ve achieved so far in 2024:

📍Kassimate and Ndenguinduane Communities

  • 64 dogs and 12 cats vaccinated

  • 4 dogs and 2 cats sterilized

📍Incomati-Rengué and Mazavela Communities

  • 42 dogs and 12 cats vaccinated

  • 1 dog sterilized

📍Maputo National Park Buffer Zone Communities

  • 101 dogs and 10 cats vaccinated

  • 2 dogs sterilized

🤝 These campaigns wouldn’t have been possible without the support of SDAE, our Rapid Response HWC unit, community leaders, technical staff, and of course, the dedicated dog owners and handlers. Special thanks to our donor, SIDA, for funding these critical efforts.

By building strong community relationships and fostering collaboration, we’re not only promoting healthier pets but also laying the foundation for long-term, sustainable solutions to protect both people and wildlife. Through deworming, vaccinations, and sterilizations, we take a holistic approach to animal health, contributing to healthier, more resilient communities.
