Healthy Dogs. Safer Communities.

This week our veterinary team carried out the first vaccination campaign of the year in Debinduana, Namaacha - one of MWA’s Protected Farming Communities.
35 dogs vaccinated, protecting 67% of the local dog population against rabies.
This work is part of our One Health approach, recognizing that the health of people, domestic animals, wildlife, and ecosystems is deeply connected. Healthier domestic animals reduce disease risk and help strengthen communities living alongside wildlife.
Carrying out these campaigns in Protected Farming Communities is especially important. These are areas where families farm and live alongside wildlife, often in zones with high human-wildlife conflict. Supporting animal health strengthens the foundations for coexistence.
The campaign was conducted in partnership with ANAC and the District Services for Economic Activities (SDAE), reinforcing collaboration between conservation and local authorities to support communities on the ground.
And this is just the beginning. Eight more vaccination campaigns are planned between now and August, all in Protected Farming Communities across Maputo and Gaza provinces.
Because coexistence starts with strong, healthy communities.
