2024 - a year in review

As we close the chapter on 2024, let’s talk about IMPACT!

This year, Mozambique Wildlife Alliance proudly stood at the intersection of conservation and community, delivering tangible results that are reshaping the future for wildlife and people. See below the milestones that defined our year:

  • 153 animals collared to improve monitoring, protection, and research.

  • 10 human induced injuries treated, ensuring they received the care needed to recover and thrive.

  • 230 animals translocated, including 200 buffalo in the largest translocation ever in Mozambique’s history!

  • 44 rhinos dehorned as part of anti-poaching strategies.

  • 379 community dogs and cats vaccinated and sterilized, reducing the spread of diseases and ensuring healthier ecosystems.

  • 201 human-wildlife conflicts resolved, helping communities and wildlife coexist peacefully.

  • 691 people trained in human-wildlife conflict prevention and mitigation, equipping local communities with knowledge and tools for sustainable coexistence.

  • 5 communities protected with electric fences, safeguarding livelihoods and reducing crop losses under our Protected Farming Communities Initiative.

Behind these numbers are stories of resilience, innovation, and collaboration. From collaring operations that enhance wildlife monitoring to empowering communities with tools to mitigate conflict, every effort is part of a bigger picture: building a future where Mozambique’s rich biodiversity thrives alongside its people.

These achievements are not ours alone. They’re a testament to the strength of partnerships, the generosity of donors, and the tireless efforts of our team and stakeholders.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re creating lasting impact and setting the stage for an even brighter 2025. Let’s continue making a difference—one collar, one training, one community at a time.
