Legitimacy and Functions
The Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Agents of the Mozambique Wildlife Conservation Association (AMCFB) work in partnership with national authorities to promote effective solutions for conflicts between human communities and wildlife. Their functions and legitimacy are officially recognized under national legal frameworks and agreements.
Legal Frameworks and Partnerships:

Law No. 5/2017: Enables collaboration between the government and civil society organizations to manage conflicts between human populations and wildlife, particularly in areas where coexistence poses significant risks.

Decree No. 89/2017: Authorizes entities like AMCFB, formally accredited by ANAC, to conduct conflict mitigation operations, including responding to emergencies involving wildlife.

AMCFB-ANAC Partnership Agreement: Establishes that conflict mitigation and management actions are led by ANAC with AMCFB support, including translocations, community assistance, and the removal of problematic animals.
